Global Betting Exchange was established in 2000 by Ireland’s leading entrepreneur Dermot Desmond with the objective to develop a global exchange platform for the trading of sports bets. Global Betting Exchange is now one of the World’s leading exchanges and matches 60 million sports bets to a value in excess of €5 billion annually.

Global Betting Exchange has built its technology around a networked Broker-Exchange model, and licences its technology to gaming operators globally.  GBE’s strategy is based on a central wholesale Exchange model, with retail Broker members. GBE operates the ‘Exchange’ and provides technology platform to ‘Brokers’ who can directly access retail markets globally. The platform operates 24x7 as a high availability and very high performance transaction processing system supporting a centralised hub interfacing with a distributed network of Brokers.

GBE employs 140 staff and it’s proprietary technology is developed by a team of 50+ engineers with more than 250 man years of engineering effort invested. It is a very high performant, high availability platform which processes up to 5m order transactions and publishes 20m price updates daily. The platform can process 15,000 bet orders per second and processes over 700 million bet orders per annum.

Global Betting Exchange is based in Dublin’s IFSC and its systems and Brokers operate from data centres globally.
