The Daughters of Charity Service, since its foundation over a century ago, has developed and adapted in response to changing needs and circumstances of persons with an intellectual disability. Today it provides a variety of services and supports to people with an intellectual disability. These supports are provided in residential and day centres, community houses and in enterprise and employment services. The major service areas are:
The Daughters of Charity Philosophy of Service is based on the Christian vision of faith and love in which attention is paid to each person in the reality of their everyday lives. The aspiration of the intellectual disability service is to develop to the fullest the potential of each person with an intellectual disability so that they can be enabled to lead as independent and satisfying a life as possible. Central Management In 1989 a Central Management Team was established under the Director of Services located at St. Vincent's, Navan Road, the team has overall responsibility for the effective co-ordination of the Service, which cover the full range of age groups and varying degrees of disability in both community and centre based settings.
