CSR in Boots Ireland
Corporate responsibility is integral to any successful company. In Boots Ireland, one of our priorities is to always try to contribute to the communities we serve. As well as the on-going work we do with Business in the community Ireland schemes, such as Ready for Work and the Schools Business Partnership, we also work closely with our charity Partner
The Irish Cancer Society. In June 2012 we were delighted to formally announce the Irish Cancer Society as our new charity partner. To mark the launch of the partnership, our employees and customers participated in a series of ‘Boots Night Walks for Night Nurses’, which took place across Ireland on 29th August 2012, over 900 staff in 73 stores walked 10k at 8pm nationwide and raised €61,000. We also supported a number of key campaigns throughout the year as part of our partnership with the Irish Cancer Society including Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2012, Lung Cancer Awareness Month in January 2013 and Sun Smart for skin cancer in May 2013. For each of these campaigns, our stores became community- based destinations for a range of cancer information and advice including signs and symptoms, causes, lifestyle advice, tests and treatment. Our pharmacists will be trained by the Irish Cancer Society to provide expert guidance to customers in stores nationwide. Through a variety of fund raising activity €184,000 has been raised in our first year of partnership on behalf of the Irish cancer society.
Our 2nd year ambition is to fund 10% of the night nursing nights provided by the Irish Cancer Society
