Barrier free means that candidates with a disability have the same opportunities as those without disabilities and can show why they are the best person for the job.

Barriers to employment include attitudes to people with disabilities, lack of experience of working with people with disabilities, lack of awareness of low cost adaptations, grants and schemes available to employers. The use of recruitment and selection procedures that are unfriendly towards people with a disability such as using complex language and systems to advertise vacancies.

However, from advertising the vacancy to interviewing for the position there are a variety of processes that you can utilise to remove any barriers to employment.
