Software Engineer – Java

We are an ambitious, dynamic and fast-growing company and are currently seeking to recruit a hard working, self motivated Software Engineer who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence to help us enhance our cloud solutions and increase our market-leading position. The successful Software Engineer will be an integral part of the organisation responsible for delivering both functional and non function requirements. You will be driving performance and scalability from software and infrastructure on a large scale – dealing with processing high volumes of data in short windows of time. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and will be an integral member of the engineering team. Members of the engineering team are encouraged to voice their creative ideas and watch them become initiatives and part of the product backlog.

Basic Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or an IT related discipline.
• Minimum of three years industry practice as a Software Engineer using Java and related technologies.
• Fluency with Java and good understanding of OO principals and design patterns.
• Familiarity with Spring, EJB or other application frameworks.
• Experience with at least three of the following technologies:
• Spring Batch/Integration
• Hibernate or other ORM frameworks
• WebServices (SOAP / REST)
• Struts / MVC
• XML Processing (JAXB / XPath / XSLT)
• JPA
• JMS
• JNDI
• Deployment on a J2EE compliant application server, preferably JBoss.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills.
• Understands and can demonstrate the importance of unit and integration testing.
• Strong prototyping ability.
• Excellent verbal communication, written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Experience with automated build utilities and continuous integration tools.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in development of systems using automation.
• Familiarity with building highly-available and scalable systems.
• Knowledge of working with SCRUM, Kanban and other agile methodologies.
• Exposure to build tools like maven, ant.
• SEPA knowledge and experience is an advantage.
• Experience/ knowledge of Financial / Payment Applications is an advantage

Sentenial is based in West Dublin / Maynooth off the M4 motorway, approximately 25 minutes from Dublin City Centre and 10 minutes from Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.
