Job - Project Engineer (Mechanical/Medical Device)
Immediate long term job opportunity currently exists for a Project Engineer (Mechanical) with a strong mechanical pedigree working on high speed, highly automated, complex and integrated manufacturing equipment.
The successful Project Engineer will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a technical job with prior Project Engineering experience in a GMP or Medical Device manufacturing environment essential. For a Project Engineer this job provides a range of equipment to work on that is unequalled in the sector. Also required will be proven ability to work effectively in a changing environment that will be results orientated.
Job description
- Project Engineer will manage discrete retrofit projects of various sizes to increase equipment output, while adhering to cost, schedule, safety and quality requirements.
- Project Engineer will lead the development and improvement of new and existing equipment and/or process.
- Promotes continuous improvement activities using statistical techniques, Lean manufacturing tools, Six Sigma, design experimentation for process and equipment, to achieve targets and cost savings.
- Take the lead in troubleshooting on equipment while providing Coaching and Mentoring to other engineering staff. Serves as a resource to other engineering disciplines in facility.
- Range of equipment includes Pneumatics, Robotics, controlled by Programmable Logic Controllers with distributed Input / Output linked by communications networks.
- Will have a prime role with respect to equipment and process safety ensuring standards are met or exceeded at all times.

Job responsibilities
- Perform project management tasks for small to medium scale retrofit projects involving either new or existing equipment
- Through data driven analysis, determine key projects to improve equipment OEE and output
- Manage project budget to support requirements
- Identification of key cycle time bottlenecks within existing equipment and the determination of applicable projects to eliminate bottleneck.
- Manage key subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to safety, quality and schedule requirements
- Provide technical support to operations for all projects implemented.
- Ensure training and maintenance requirements are fully satisfied for the smooth transition of projects from engineering to operations.
