Description:

The BioProcess Engineer in the Biologics Team will be responsible for front line troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement of the drug substance manufacturing operations in Fermentation, Purification and Conjugation. This role will ensure on-going optimization of the process to ensure the continued manufacture and supply of quality pharmaceutical products in meeting our Manufacturing Division Priorities of: Compliance, Supply, Strategy and Profit Plan.

You will be accountable for providing Subject Matter Expertise on equipment design, operation, and improvement in order to support the smooth running and reliability of equipment within the IPT to ensure no interruption to the production schedule.

You will responsible for actively participating in the Tier process to proactively resolve equipment issues before they impact the business priorities and to provide expert troubleshooting input into investigations.

You will be an active member within the cross functional IPT Team providing support, guidance and striving for Process Engineering excellence to ensure the success of the IPT.

Primary activities/responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Equipment subject matter expert for Bioprocessing equipment such as Fermenters, Centrifuges, Media sterilizers, Chromatography systems, harvest skids, etc
  • Resolve equipment issues by providing expert troubleshooting input into investigations
  • Lead and Participate in efficiency and streamlining projects which contribute to department and site initiatives that contribute to increased safety, process improvement cost saving etc.
  • Ensure supply of high quality product through equipment availability, maximize performance of the equipment and help identify/implement continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to the Operations Team.
  • Provide Sound Process Engineering stewardship and support the resource planning, scheduling and control for engineering activities.
  • Identify and Recommend best practice approaches in line with global and local standards for Bioprocessing in Fermentation and Purification.
  • Be an active participant of the Biologics IPT team.
  • Support maintenance programs to ensure these are executed to the highest standards in compliance with cGMP.
  • Ensure highest Quality & Compliance (Quality and Safety) standards.
  • Participate and comply with our Manufacturing Division Quality Management System (OMS) requirements, including ownership, as relevant.
  • Manage Safety Changes within the Biologics IPT as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience with the BioProcessing Industry or a similar GMP operating environment with preferable experience in at least one of the following
  • Degree (Engineering/Science).
  • Demonstrated project leadership, including change management skills with a strong continuous improvement focus.
  • Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, Lean Six Sigma teams, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience of stakeholder management of multiple decision makers, cross functional teams.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Qualified Preferable with goal to achieve Black Belt certification
